Daniel H. Smith, M.D., is among a handful of physicians in the United States who are board-certified in gynecologic oncology, obstetrics/gynecology, and general surgery. This qualifies him to treat surgically not only the primary site of a gynecologic cancer but areas that might be affected by any spread of the cancer, such as the colon, bladder, or vascular system. Prior to joining The Cancer Center in 2003, Dr. Smith, M.D., was director of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center for 15 years. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group, and the Society of Memorial Gynecologic Oncologists, an organization affiliated with Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, where Dr. Smith completed his fellowship in gynecologic oncology.
